Assembly of Delegates

1. Overview

One or more Delegates are chosen by Member Societies and Affiliated Member Societies according to the formula shown in section 2 below. The Delegates assemble during the World Congress of Dermatology and are empowered to:

  • Elect members of the Board.
  • Choose the location of the next World Congress of Dermatology.
  • Approve some elements of the organization of world congresses.
  • Approve membership fees and payment schedules.
  • Transact any other business as may be requested by the Board and/or delegates.

During the World Congress of Dermatology two Assembly of Delegates meetings are held - the first to present Officers reports, to vote on the next Congress site and to develop the list of Board nominations, and the second to elect the new Board members.

The By-Laws also provide for the possibility of an interim meeting of the Assembly of Delegates; i.e., “The Assembly of Delegates may, at the discretion of the Board, hold an administrative meeting approximately midway between the meetings of the Assembly at the World Congresses in order to transact any business that must come before the Assembly.”

2. Allocation of Delegates

An Affiliate Member Society may choose one (only) Delegate as its representative to the Assembly.

Member Societies are entitled to name one or more Delegates according to the formula shown below, based on the number of Society members for which the Society has paid ILDS dues. However, 1) an individual who is a member of more than one Member Society from a country shall not be counted more than once for the purpose of calculating the number of Delegates to which each society is entitled, and 2) no single country shall be represented by more than seven Delegates unless there are more than seven Member Societies in that country. In this case, the number of Delegates can be no more than the number of Member Societies within the country.

100 and under members 1 delegate
101-250 members 2 delegates
251-500 members 3 delegates
501-1000 members 4 delegates
1001-2500 members 5 delegates
2501-5000 members 6 delegates
5001 and over 7 delegates

Members of the ICD are counted as ex-officio Delegates, with vote.
