World Forum on Skin Cancer Prevention and Management in Persons with Albinism
Cape Town, South Africa │ 27-28 October 2025
The first World Forum on Skin Cancer Prevention and Management in Persons with Albinism will be held in Cape Town, South Africa on 27-28 October 2025. This two-day event will bring together professionals and patient organisation with a common interest in addressing skin cancer prevention and management in persons with albinism. The Forum will provide a focus fordetermining and monitoring the global burden of skin cancer with an aim toadvance the establishment of global intervention programs to reduce the impactof skin cancer on the lives of persons with albinism.

Skin cancer is the main contributor to early death in persons with albinism in the tropics. Many PWAs in this setting have limited access to skin cancer prevention programs, sunscreen, and they have minimal access to effective skin cancer management services. Improving skin cancer prevention as well as increasing access to timely intervention for cutaneous malignancies as they occur has been shown in emerging programs to be effective in reversing these outcomes. The International League of Dermatological Societies working with the patient voice (GAA) and lead implementors of skin cancer prevention programs in PWAs (Standing Voice) aim to facilitate effective sharing of good practice to address accelerating access to skin cancer prevention and management services in this vulnerable patient group.
