This publication presents a broad range of approaches to address the following themes:
The future of dermatology: threat and opportunities
What are the truly unmet needs in dermatology?
Access to dermatological health and medicinal skin treatment and care
Training and education
The scope and challenges of evidence-based care
Global volunteerism: addressing the challenges in global and national skin health
The future of dermatology as a discipline
This inaugural ILDS Directory contains contributions from over 30 ILDS Members covering all world regions. The topics featured are diverse, including dermatological education and training programmes; national awareness campaigns; dermatological research and the development of standards; care and treatment for displaced and marginalised communities; and the development of registries and algorithms.
Many of the initiatives described in the Directory have been in support of World Skin Health Day, the goal of which is to raise awareness of skin health and the importance of ensuring access to dermatological care. The World Skin Health Day campaign is a collaboration between the ILDS and the International Society of Dermatology (ISD) which engages and supports ILDS Members at local, national and regional levels.
The creative initiatives and projects featured in this publication are the culmination of any dedicated individuals and societies. We hope that you will find inspiration and practical know-how from the energy and compassion that is embodied in each of these initiatives.
