Membership
The ILDS has shaped international dermatology for more than 125 years. We are increasing awareness, cooperation and communication within the dermatology community. We promote high quality education, clinical care, research and innovation that will improve skin health around the world. We do this through collaborating with our Members and Partners.

ILDS Member organisations
There are three types of ILDS Members:
- Member Societies
- Affiliated Member Societies
- Observer Member Societies.
Member Societies
- A Society which represents Members from 1 country
- Entitled to nominate delegates to represent the Society at the Assembly of Delegates General Meeting (subject to Clause 18 of our Articles of Association)
- We calculate your annual fee based on how many paying members your Society currently has. This is currently US$1.50 per paying member, per year.
Affiliated Member Societies
- A Society which represents Members from multiple countries
- Entitled to nominate 1 delegate to represent the Society at the Assembly of Delegates General Meeting (subject to Clause 19 of our Articles of Association)
- Annual Membership fee = US$100
Observer Member Societies
- A Society which has been established for less than 4 years
- Observer Member Societies have no voting rights at the Assembly of Delegates General Meeting but may nominate a representative to observe
- Once an Observer Member Society has been in existence for 4 years it will become a Member Society or an Affiliated Member Society and will be granted appropriate voting rights
- Annual Membership fee = US$100

All applications are reviewed by the ILDS Membership Committee before consideration by the ILDS Board

- Be aware that we invoice Members annually in January for the 12 months ahead.
- We will notify you to update your Membership details on the 30 November each year. This information is used to calculate your Membership fee for the next year.
- Payment is due on receipt of the invoice. Non-payment can result in suspension of Member benefits or termination of Membership.
- Please check you have these documents before starting your application:
- Details of Society officers i.e. President, Secretary-General, Treasurer
- Society registration certificate (pdf)
- Bylaws of the Society confirming non-profit status (pdf)
- Names and affiliations of Board Members (pdf)
Membership application deadlines
The ILDS does not consider Membership applications in the 12 months before a World Congress of Dermatology. The next WCD will be held from 3 to 8 July 2023.
Organisations who wish to be considered for Membership must submit their applications by the below cut-off dates to be considered at the next Board Meeting:
- 29 May 2023
- 30 October 2023
- 26 February 2024
- 29 April 2024
Applications received after these dates will be considered at the following Board Meeting.
