I was elected as a Board Member of ILDS for eight-years representing the Asia-Pacific Region during the World Congress of Dermatology (WCD) meeting in Milan. I am currently the Professor and Chairperson of the Department of Dermatology, Seoul National University College of Medicine, Seoul, Korea. I am also a member of many national and international professional societies and have been President and Director of several Korean professional societies. I believe that my lifelong experience, knowledge and network gained through hosting numerous international scientific meetings and leading many societies will contribute to the advancement and expansion of the ILDS.
My research interests lie in the field of skin aging and photomedicine. In the area of my expertise, I have published 280 peer-reviewed publications, with a total of 6,366 citations and an H-index of 43. On the clinical side, I treat, with high standard of care, patients with various autoimmune bullous diseases and rheumatic skin diseases. I also served as the Vice Dean of SNU College of Medicine and Director of Planning and Budget in the SNU Hospital for many years.
Professor Chung with his graduate studentsDuring the 22nd World Congress of Dermatology in Seoul in 2011, as the director of the local Scientific Committee, I played a pivotal role in the organization and execution of a solid scientific program. My experience in hosting the WCD 2011 in Seoul successfully will also help with my future activities as a board member of ILDS.
I will do my best to promote further advancement of global dermatology and ILDS. Thank you very much.
