I Dr Venkataram Mysore am happy to have joined the ILDS Board as a regional director in 2019 with a tenure for 8 years till 2027. This is an exciting period to be in ILDS as it starts several new projects and activities. As world skin health faces challenges and opportunities on several fronts, I hope to contribute to different areas such as vitiligo, leprosy, online dermatological education, dermatopathology, practice management, and global community dermatology.
I am presently the director, Venkat Center for skin and plastic surgery and Postdoctoral fellowship training, in Bangalore, India, accredited to Rajeev Gandhi University for Health Sciences, Bangalore, India. I bring over 33 years of dermatological practice, 25 years in teaching, and five years of military service, as a dermatologist, dermatopathologist, hair transplant surgeon, as an author and editor (8 books and 2 journals) and administrator. My administrative experience includes presidentship of three national associations Indian Association of Dermatologists, Venereologists and Leprologists, the Association of Cutaneous Surgeons, and the Association of Hair Restoration Surgeons and an international society, DASIL (Dermatologists and Aesthetic Surgeons International League) apart from membership and chairmanship of committees in different societies.
I am the author and editor of 8 books - clinical dermatology, dermatology, dermatopathology, cutaneous and aesthetic surgery, hair transplantation, medicolegal issues, practice management, digital medicine, 110 papers and chapters in 15 books etc. I have received six orations, and three international awards including the prestigious ILDS Certificate of Appreciation Award 2014.
As a regional director of the ILDS, I remain open and receptive to all dermatologists in the region and around the world to discuss, understand and cooperate on all issues of relevance to dermatology at any time. I earnestly hope to make my presence on the Board to help make international dermatology relevant, significant, and important to all.
