Dear ILDS Members,
The Australasian College of Dermatologists is bidding to host the World Congress of Dermatology (WCD) in Sydney, Australia in 2023. We see this as an opportunity to showcase the great work that is being done in Australia and continue to improve and profile dermatological research and training in the region.
If successful, this will be the second time Australia has hosted the WCD, previously hosting a very successful meeting in 1997. Building on this legacy, and driven by a new generation, the 2023 Congress will explore the biggest challenges facing dermatologists today and shape the future of dermatology.
Our new generation of dermatologists are thriving on their diversity. Practising in a county as multicultural as Australia means they are afforded the opportunity to research, diagnose and treat the full breadth of dermatological conditions. They seek international collaborations and share best practice across the global community.
A Sydney World Congress will be built around partnership and collaboration. Keep an eye out for our Bid Ambassadors at upcoming dermatology meetings globally. They will be delighted to talk in more detail about the Australian bid and hear your thoughts on what you would like to see at the 2023 Congress.
Sydney is Australia’s largest and most cosmopolitan city. The city boasts iconic landmarks and majestic beaches.
The proposed venue for the World Congress of Dermatology 2023 is the new International Convention Centre Sydney. The centre is at the heart of its very own waterfront precinct, set amongst restaurants and a vibrant public atmosphere.
Australia welcomes visitors from every nation or country of origin with few travel and visa restrictions for delegates.
We would love to hear from you. Get in touch with us and help us understand what makes a great Congress for you.
Professor H Peter Soyer
