The lack of access to dermatological care is a global health crisis. Skin diseases are the fourth leading cause of nonfatal disease burden worldwide, with significant variation in morbidity based on geographic location and available resources.1,2 By virtue of cultural and systematic constraints, a multifaceted approach to increasing access to dermatological care globally is essential. We argue that investing in local dermatologists by providing intentional mentorship and leadership training is foundational to increasing access.
