Prurigo and Pruritus Initiative

Introducing the Chronic Prurigo Project: Established in 2023, this is a pioneering initiative aimed at standardizing definitions, terminology, and diagnostics for chronic prurigo diseases worldwide, including prurigo nodularis. Led by Dr. Brian Kim (Mount Sinai Hospital, USA) and Professor Sonja Ständer (University of Münster, Germany), and in collaboration the ILDS and GlobalSkin, the project’s goal is to establish international partnerships and achieve a clear definition for improved patient care and treatment approaches. Planned actions include harmonization of definition and terminology through a Delphi process, WHO involvement and completion of ICD11 regarding prurigo, and the creation of a Chronic Prurigo Global Atlas.
