ILDS Young Dermatologist International Achievement Awards
The ILDS, as part of its work in global dermatology, aims to recognise dermatologists and others in the field of dermatological care who have made an outstanding contribution to improving the experience for people with skin diseases.
The Young Dermatologist International Achievement (YDIA) Award is awarded bi-annually (from 2025), to coincide with the World Congress of Dermatology (WCD) and the World Skin Summit (WSS), and aims to recognise recently qualified dermatologists who have made an outstanding contribution to international dermatology, particularly for patients in under-served areas of the world.
Recipients of the YDIA Award receive a certificate, a bursary towards travel and accommodation and free registration to attend the event.
In the year of a WCD, the recipients are invited as guests to the opening ceremony and the awards are presented during the Emeritus Council reception, where all esteemed past and present ILDS Board Members in attendance.
In the year of a WSS, the recipients received their awards during the main conference session.
The YDIA Award is presented to one individual from each of the 6 ILDS Regions:
- Africa
- East Asia, South-East Asia and Oceania
- Europe
- Latin America (including Mexico and the Caribbean)
- North America (excluding Mexico and the Caribbean)
- West, South and Central Asia
Eligible ILDS Member organisations* can nominate one person from their society for this Award and the nominees must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- They must have been practising dermatology post training for less than 15 years
- They must not hold the rank of Professor at any academic institution
- They must not have received the award previously nor be a past/present ILDS Board Member.
*Eligible ILDS Members are those that are active and in good standing (with no outstanding fees).

YDIA Awards 2025 - nominations now open!
We are delighted to announce that nominations are now open for the Young Dermatologists International Achievement Awards 2025.
One recipient per ILDS region will be selected to receive the Award. Each recipient will receive free registration and a US$2,500 bursary towards travel and accommodation to enable them to attend the 4th ILDS World Skin Summit in Cape Town, South Africa in October 2025.
This fantastic opportunity will enable the recipients to learn, share and network with dermatology leaders from around the world and provide them with global recognition for their work and accomplishments. We encourage all ILDS Members to submit a nomination and help us recognise exceptional young dermatologists within your community who have made remarkable contributions globally through their dedication, expertise, and innovative approaches.
