The ILDS, as part of its work in global dermatology, aims to recognise dermatologists and others in the field of dermatological care who have made an outstanding contribution to improving the experience for people with skin diseases.
The Young Dermatologist International Achievement (YDIA) Award is awarded quadrennially, to coincide with the World Congress of Dermatology (WCD), and aims to recognise recently qualified dermatologists who have made an outstanding contribution to international dermatology, particularly for patients in under-served areas of the world.
Recipients of the YDIA Award receive a certificate, a bursary towards travel and accommodation to attend the WCD as well as free registration at the event. The recipients are invited as guests to the opening ceremony of the WCD and the awards are presented to the recipients during the Emeritus Council reception, where all esteemed past and present ILDS Board Members in attendance.
The Award is presented to one individual from each ILDS Region:
Eligible ILDS Member organisations* can nominate one person from their society for this Award and the nominees must meet the following eligibility criteria:
*Eligible ILDS Members are those that are active and in good standing (with no outstanding fees).
Please note that recipients can only receive this Award once and that Members of the ILDS Board, past and present, are not eligible to be nominated.
Nominations for the YDIAs are made in year preceding the World Congress of Dermatology. The next round of nominations for the 26th WCD will open in 2026.
The presentation of the 2023 YDAA recipients were made during the 25th World Congress of Dermatology in Singapore, 3-8 July 2023.
